Video: Roy Keane’s brutal assessment of Paul Pogba and what he must do better at Man Utd

Roy Keane believes Paul Pogba has underperformed at Manchester United, and has called for the Frenchman to improve his game before he can be considered a regular starter in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield.

Solskjaer has opted to start Pogba in a midfield diamond against Arsenal this afternoon, with the Reds looking to build on their 5-0 thrashing of Bundesliga high-flyers RB Leipzig in midweek.

Pogba was excellent on the left of the diamond against Leipzig, expressing himself in possession and doing his defensive duties diligently.  His assist for Mason Greenwood’s opening goal was one of the highlights of the match.

But while he deserves praise when he performs well, Pogba’s lack of consistency is what has been so frustrating in his second spell at Old Trafford.

United great Keane has no doubts over Pogba’s talent but has questioned whether he is maximising his potential in Solskjaer’s midfield.

Keane doesn’t believe that talent alone gives Pogba a divine right to be indispensable for United, and Solskjaer has proved in recent weeks that he isn’t reluctant to drop his star midfielder if his displays are underwhelming.

The 49-year-old added that Pogba needs to show more fight and spirit on the pitch.

Pogba has another opportunity to silence his critics as United look to leapfrog Mikel Arteta’s men in the league with victory at Old Trafford.
