Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have the same squad available to him against that he had at the weekend when Manchester United drew 0-0 with Chelsea.
The manager mentioned games coming thick and fast and how he doesn’t wish to risk injuries.
Instead he will use all of his options, and so he should because neither Scott McTominay and Fred have done anything to be removed from the team. They’ve both performed well in recent weeks which shows that the manager is building a greater standard of depth in the squad.
“It’s going to be a long season and the depth of our squad is better now,” Solskjaer said (via Manchester Evening News). “Last game Donny, Nemanja and Paul all started on the bench — they’re all experienced international footballers. It’s not easy.
“But we have so many games this season and they’re going to play a big part, nobody will be able to play all of them.
“They work well as a team, is it two, three or four? And who’s on form? Who needs a break?”
Scott McTominay was sat alongside Solskjaer at the press conference, so there is a chance we will see the Scotland international in the starting line-up but I expect the manager to mix up his line-up a little.
McTominay had his say on United’s midfielder, adding: “When we play different rotations in midfield I feel like we’re all capable of playing with each other. There’s not just one stereotype of who pkays with who.
“The manager is dead right that sometimes certain players need a break and we’re all happy to play with each other. We’re all adaptable in how we play.”
United go into the game after beating PSG 2-0 away from home in the opening round of fixtures.
Asked about building on that win, Solskjaer said: “We look at every single game as a chance to get three points and in the group stage of four teams, you’d think 10 points will get you through.
“To get to 19 points as quick as we can is our aim.”
