Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer held a press conference this morning and provided an update on Edinson Cavani, Harry Maguire and Mason Greenwood ahead of Saturday’s clash against Chelsea.

The good news is that all three will be available to take on Frank Lampard’s side.

Deadline day arrival Cavani only started training with his new teammates on Sunday, 24 hours after the win over Newcastle United, and skipper Maguire missed the midweek Champions League win at PSG through injury.

Solskjaer added Greenwood had a ‘niggle’ that kept him out of the wins over PSG and Newcastle, despite claims there are issues with the youngster’s timekeeping at Carrington.

“I hope and expect all three of them to be available for selection,” Solskjaer said via Manchester Evening News. “Of course, we’ve got a training session this morning but they’ve all got a chance, all of them.

“There are different reasons: Edinson wants to tick all the boxes that he’s gone through in his programme to be ready and make an impact. His last preparation is going to be today and then I will have a discussion. Yesterday seemed positive with Mason and Harry.”

Like United, Chelsea would have planned for a better start to their Premier League campaign. They’ve managed two wins, two draws and one defeat thus far.

The Reds beat Chelsea home and away in the league last term and in the fourth round of the League Cup. However, a 3-1 defeat in the FA Cup semi-finals came as a sucker punch.

A win is needed because it will give Solskjaer a brighter outlook on the league standings.

United already have some climbing to do if they’re to compete this season.
