(Video) Solskjaer explains van de Beek’s lack of playing time

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer answered yet another question on Donny van de Beek at this press conference this morning.

The Netherlands midfielder joined United in the summer but has yet to start a Premier League match for the club.

News hungry journalists wanted to know if Solskjaer is thinking about playing him on Saturday against Chelsea, but Solskjaer didn’t give away any hints.

Van de Beek’s time on the pitch has been limited to substitute appearances thus far which is far from ideal when he was clearly dreaming of a more busy beginning to life at the club.

Solskjaer told the press (via Manchester Evening News): “Donny’s fit enough but of course it’s competition for places, it’s giving him time to settle in and adjust to his new teammates, it’s a new league.

“He’s an absolutely top footballer and personality, so humble and hard-working but also, of course, eager to play more.

“You’ll see him throughout the season, it’s going to be a long, long season and he’s impressed me. You’ll see him.”
