Manchester United faced-off earlier tonight against Newcastle United and with the Reds desperately looking for a big performance, the young Reds did not disappoint.
United rose to see off Steve Bruce’s Magpies after goals from Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire sealed their counter-part’s fate as United took a 4-1 victory.

David De Gea
Put his body on the line during the first-half to make a stunning save to keep Newcastle United’s Allan Saint-Maximin out.
Very little the Spaniard could do to keep the Magpie’s opener out which ricocheted off Luke Shaw’s outstretched leg.
Made a stunning low save early into the second-half to keep Callum Wilson’s header out.
Overall, a great performance and a strong reminder as to why he is still United’s number-one.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Got forward well, didn’t do too much wrong, big, big improvement on last time out against Spurs.
Almost scored in the first-half from a wayward cross but made up for it at the turn of the 90th-minute after scoring an absolute thunder-bolt.

Victor Lindelof
Looked reasonably solid throughout, no glaringly obvious mistakes and partnered Harry Maguire well.

Harry Maguire
Silenced his critics with an equaliser at the half-way mark by getting on the end of a corner. Looked comfortable on the ball throughout.
Much better performance all round from the United captain.

Luke Shaw
Desperately unlucky to be on the wrong end of an own-goal after the first couple of minutes but didn’t let it affect the rest of his game.
Shaw still looks a touch leggy to me when running back to goal but offered valuable support in attack.

Fred
Looked to go about his usual industrious work well. Passed the ball forward at every oppotuntity.
Unlucky not to score in the 51st minute after a long range strike fizzed just wide.
Subbed off in the 69th-minute for Paul Pogba.

Scott McTominay
Did well throughout and made some valuable interceptions covering the right hand-side.
Looked to progress the ball when the opportunities presented themselves. Didn’t look out of place stepping in for the experienced Nemanja Matic.

Bruno Fernandes
Superb first-half saw the Portuguese Magnifico rank number-one among all the Reds’ offensive stats.
Had a rocket of a goal disallowed due to a marginal offside.
Team-mate Marcus Rashford won a penalty in the 57th-minute but the Portuguese star was unable to convert and saw his spot-kick saved by Magpies keeper Karl Darlow.
However, the Portuguese-star did come up with the goods when they really matter late on in the 86th-minute when he finished off a simply superb move and curled the ball home.
Another great performance from Fernandes will cement his place firmly in the starting 11 for the foreseeable future.

Daniel James
Easily United’s most improved performer. James looked lively from start to finish and was clearly giving his all, at times looked likely to be the next name on the scoresheet.
Subbed off in the 76th-minute for new-signing Donny van de Beek.

Juan Mata
Like a fine wine, he just gets better with age.
Another great performance from the experienced midfielder saw the Spaniard control proceedings from the right-hand side from start to end. A lot of his work perhaps went under the radar but he always provided an attacking outlet.
Played a simply sublime through-ball to Rashford in the 66th-minute which carved Newcastle United’s defence wide-open.

Marcus Rashford
Looked busy throughout and provided a constant threat down the left-hand side, tricking and weaving his way into the box.
Won his side a penalty in the 57th-minute after being brought down just inside the box and went onto score the fifth goal of the game in the 96th-minute.

Paul Pogba
Did well after coming on with half an hour to go. Started off in a more advanced role then dropped deeper to control proceedings.
Hard to judge but looked solid.

Donny van de Beek
Had around 15-minutes on the pitch and looked up to his technical best; played a major role in United’s third.
Thoroughly deserves to start next week against Paris-Saint Germain in the Champions League.
