Paris-Saint Germain star major doubt for Champions League clash against Man United

Paris-Saint Germain star Marquinhos is reportedly a major doubt for his side’s crucial Champions League group tie against Manchester United next Tuesday after the Brazilian sustained a thigh injury whilst on international duty.

Marquinhos, 26, joined Paris-Saint Germain in 2013 from Serie A side Roma in a move which cost the Ligue 1 champions £28.26m as per TransferMarkt.

The elite Brazilian has featured in a total of 287 matches for Paris-Saint Germain in all competitions and has been directly involved in 33 goals during his seven year spell with the French giants.

Marquinhos’ stint in Paris has seen him lift a whopping 23 major trophies including six Ligue 1 titles, however, the Brazilian was denied the illustrious Champions League trophy last season despite reaching the final after Bayern Munich were crowned champions of Europe after a 1-0 win in the final.

Paris-Saint Germain and their versatile Brazilian defender will be hoping to go one better this time out, however, Marquinhos may be forced to sit out his side’s first encounter against Premier League giants United who they face-off against next Tuesday, as per L’Equipe.

Whilst away on international duty with Brazil, Marquinhos suffered an injury to his left thigh which has meant his inclusion in Tuesday match has been cast into doubt.

United will be hoping Marquinhos is unavailable for selection after a poor start to the new 2020-21 campaign has meant the Reds will need all the help they can get if they’re to topple last season’s finalists.
