It remains unclear what the immediate future holds for Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes after Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo tested positive for COVID-19 on international duty.
A report from Portuguese publication A Bola on Tuesday suggested their players on international duty would be forced to quarantine upon return to England under UK guidelines.
People in the UK have to self isolate for up to 14 days if they come into contact with someone who has the virus.
But it is unclear if this will apply to Fernandes, and he is still likely to feature in Wednesday evening’s Nations League match against Sweden.
If Fernandes did have to isolate, it would come at exactly the wrong time for United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with the Reds facing a congested schedule over the next fortnight.
Here are the five crucial games United’s indispensable player would miss if forced to quarantine:
17 October – Newcastle vs Man Utd
20 October – PSG vs Man Utd
24 October – Man Utd vs Chelsea
28 October – Man Utd vs RB Leipzig
1 November – Man Utd vs Arsenal
We will keep you up to date as soon as further information is released concerning Fernandes.
Anyhow, some supporters believe the official club twitter account dropped a hint this morning over Fernandes’ availability by using his cover photo in a preview for Saturday’s Newcastle United fixture at St James’ Park.
