Jadon Sancho won’t be leaving Borussia Dortmund in January, according to reports.

Manchester United were strongly linked with the England international throughout the summer but were unable to meet Dortmund’s asking price.

There was a lot of disappointment afterwards because Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had listed the winger as his primary target. It’s also a deal United knew they wanted to conduct over a year in advance.

However, to occupy the right-wing role, Solskjaer decided late on to invest in youthful prospects so United signed Facundo Pellistri from Uruguay and Amad Diallo from Ivory Coast.

Despite whispers that United may go back in for Sancho when the transfer window reopens in January, a deal looks unlikely band Bild claim Dortmund won’t sell him midway through the season even if United were to offer £108m.

Dortmund could be in the hunt for the Bundesliga or even in the Champions League knockouts at this stage, so I never thought they would consider selling him in January.

Back to the drawing board next summer I’m afraid.

On top of these claims, a recent report from ESPN revealed that Solskjaer was also keen to land Dortmund striker Erling Haaland despite missing him out on him in January.
