Manchester United’s new number-seven reportedly rejected the chance to join Italian giants Juventus and La Liga’s Los Blancos this summer and instead opted in favour of a move to Old Trafford.

Cavani, 33, joined United on a free transfer on deadline day after the elite striker’s contract with former club Paris-Saint Germain expired earlier this summer, as confirmed on ManUtd.com.

The Uruguayan forward boasts some seriously impressive goal scoring numbers after being directly involved in 406 goals in 556 senior matches in all competitions throughout a playing career which has seen him turn-out for Palmero, Napoli and PSG.

United’s capture of Cavani could be viewed as a shrewd piece of business by the Reds’ board especially if a recent report from ESPN is anything to go by.

ESPN report that prior to the 33-year-old’s arrival at Old Trafford the elite striker turned down offers from European giants Juventus and Real Madrid.

It is believed that PSG’s former marksman was drawn to the illustrious Premier League due to it’s global popularity.

ESPN go onto claim that an agreement with United took slightly longer than planned due to a delay in ironing out a small issue over the South American’s image rights.
