Manchester United’s third-choice goalkeeper Sergio Romero is set for a late move to America’s MLS after being left disappointed as his deadline day move to Everton fell through.
Romero, 33, joined United on a free transfer in 2015 from Sampdoria and has since gone on to become a popular figure within the squad among fans due to his reliability when called upon.
During the Argentinian’s five years with United he has featured in 61 matches in all competitions and kept 39 clean sheets along the way.
However, despite Romero’s decent performances whenever called into action in place of number-one David De Gea, the South American’s time at United has recently been cast into doubt after a deadline day move to Everton fell through.
The 33-year-old was reportedly keen to join Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton on deadline day earlier this week in order to gain more first-team game-time, as per leading Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marizo.
Romero’s deadline day disappointment led to his wife taking to her social media and launching a scathing attack on United.
However, the proposed move eventually failed to materialise with the latest in the ongoing saga coming from the Daily Mail who claim that the United keeper could be set for a late switch to the MLS.
