Roma expected to make new offer for Chris Smalling in next 24 hours

AS Roma are expected to submit a new bid for Chris Smalling in the next 24 hours.

According to reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano, there has been talks between the two clubs but Manchester United do not want to loan out Diogo Dayot as part of the deal.

As a result Roma have asked for Timothy Fosu-Mensah to be included in the negotiations.

Romano doesn’t state whether Roma want Fosu-Mensah on loan or permanently, however, it’s probably a loan considering how they’ve struggled all summer to meet United’s asking price for Smalling.

The centre-back had a terrific season on loan at Roma next season and they were hoping to do similar with Dalot, only for United to reject the possibility.

It’s time for Smalling to move on after spending over 10-years as a Manchester United player.

He was one of the most consistent defenders in Italy last season and appeared t enjoy himself — except for the when his loan deal ended and he had to miss the rest of Roma’s 2019-20 Europa League campaign which was short-lived once they were without him at the back.
