Ole Gunnar Solskjaer impressed with one particular moment against Luton Town

Manchester United travelled to Luton Town’s Kenilworth Road last night as the two sides competed for a place in the Carabao Cup’s Fourth Round with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Reds coming off best after two late goals from Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood sealed a 3-0 victory.

United were looking to put in a much improved performance from the one against Crystal Palace last weekend after the Reds were pumped 3-1 by the Eagles.

Last night’s cup game against Luton Town was far from a spectacle with a single first-half goal coming via a penalty after Juan Mata cooly converted the spot-kick.

United weren’t able to put the game to bed until deep into the second-half after English attacking duo Rashford and Greenwood were introduced.

The pair combined spectacularly for Rashford’s goal at the 88th minute mark with Greenwood finishing off a solo effort a few moments later.

Last night’s goals see both Rashford and Greenwood open their 2020-21 goalscoring accounts as the pair embark on a mission to better last season’s tallies of 22 and 19 respectively.

Speaking to MUTV after the game, Solskjaer was quick to praise both players for their involvement in Rashford’s goal, the Norwegian said: “It’s great for them to get minutes as well but also goals. I think the first one [scored by Rashford], I like that goal because the ball goes forward and it goes quick.

“It’s not perfect but Mason gets hold of it, leaves it for Marcus and you can see that he’s composed in his finishing.

“And Mason, you see his chance there, he can go inside, he can go outside, he had one other one before when he went with his right, now he went with his left.

“Of course, it’s great for them to get off the mark.”
