Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson has posted a heartfelt message to fans after he made his senior debut earlier tonight in the Reds’ 3-0 Carabao Cup Third Round win against Luton Town.

Henderson, 23, has been with United since 2011 and after climbing the club’s youth ranks enjoyed successful loans spells with Stockport, Grimsby Town, Shrewsbury and most recently Sheffield United.

The talented keeper’s latest loan spell with Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United spanned over two seasons which saw him help the Blades win promotion back to the big time followed by an impressive top-half Premier League finish in the 2019-20 season.

Henderson’s superb top-flight form earned him a new bumper five-year deal with an added one year option earlier this summer, as per Sky Sports in a decision which will now see him rival regular keeper David De Gea for the right to become to United’s new number-one.

The 23-year-old shot-stopper was awarded his first ever senior appearance for United earlier tonight and after the continued criticism of team-mate De Gea all the pressure was on Henderson to perform and he didn’t disappoint.

Although rarely uncalled into action, Henderson was needed in the second-half of tonight’s game when Luton launched an attack which resulted in the young keeper pulling off a wonder save.

Henderson took to his social media shortly after the game to declare his love for United and claimed tonight’s match was a moment he’s always dreamt of.

We love you too, Dean.
