Alex Telles hopeful of completing Man Utd transfer this week, claims journalist

Alex Telles is hopeful of completing a deal to sign for Manchester United in the coming days, according to Guardian journalist Jamie Jackson.

Reports surrounding United’s interest in Telles have intensified in recent days with just two weeks of the summer transfer window remaining.

Telles scored two penalties for FC Porto on Saturday and manager Sergio Conceicao refused to rule out an exit for the Brazilian full-back.

“I don’t think about it,” Conceicao said, as quoted by Goal.

“The market is not about me. I am not a manager, I am a coach and I have to train the players I have. Obviously I would like to count on everyone and if someone else came in, I would not be upset at all.

“I must praise and emphasise Alex’s professionalism. It is not easy with all this news to play the game he played today.

“I know the character and personality of the players and I know that until the last day, be it tomorrow or 10 years from now, they will do their best.”

Reputable Guardian journalist Jackson has ignited some scarce excitement in the United fanbase with a tweet on Monday lunchtime suggesting a deal is edging closer for Telles.

Jackson understands that the player is hopeful that a deal could occur ‘this week’.

Telles is one of the most exciting attacking left-backs in European football and he will be a welcome addition to provide some much-needed competition for Luke Shaw, who struggled in Saturday’s defeat to Crystal Palace.

However, Telles cannot be the only arrival at Old Trafford before the October 5 deadline. A central defender and right-sided forward are both key positions that need strengthening if the Solskjaer’s side are to compete this season.
