Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard was reportedly furious with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the lead up to Saturday’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Solskjaer’s side got the new season off to a dire start with Crystal Palace coming to Old Trafford, winning 3-1.

But things don’t seem to be much better off the pitch and we’re not talking about a lack of transfers.

According to the Daily Star, Lingard has been working hard to reach full fitness ahead of the new campaign, but was left ‘seething’ when told by Solskjaer he wouldn’t even be on the bench against Palace.

The England international is also linked with a José Mourinho reunion, as per ESPN, in a move that may be dependent on Tottenham selling Dele Alli.

Given that Lingard didn’t always make the bench last season and United have since strengthened in midfield, the 27-year-old shouldn’t be shocked by his exclusion but I would be concerned if he wasn’t angry about it.

I don’t think there will be many United fans urging the club to keep Lingard if Spurs are interested. It could be a convenient way to free up some wage money for a new and improved addition for the squad.
