FC Porto left-back Alex Telles has spoken out in light of the increasing speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United.
Telles, 27, was in fine form last night after he put in a simply superb performance including successfully converting two spot-kicks in emphatic fashion.
The talented defender has been hotly tipped with a move to Old Trafford this summer after a recent report from Portuguese outlet A Bola claimed he had emerged as a defensive target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The speculation surrounding FC Porto’s left-back was intensified last night after Solskjaer’s United suffered a crushing 3-1 Premier League opening defeat against Crystal Palace.
In addition to United’s sub-par performance, Telles went onto put in one of his finest displays to date.
According to leading journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 27-year-old will push for a move to Old Trafford after United officials were in touch with his camp last night.
Speaking after his fine performance to Portuguese broadcasters Sport TV as quoted by Manchester Evening News Telles addressed the mounting speculation surrounding his future, he said: “I’m a guy who focuses a lot on work, people believe what they want, say what they want in the newspapers, but the most important thing is to be focused on my work.
“You know that and so do my teammates, whatever happens, I’m focused on the club, I’m here, I’m playing.”
Telles was pushed for an answer regarding where his immediate future may lie, he said: “I have people who work for me, I just have to focus on what my job is.
“If I knew anything, I wouldn’t need to have people working for me. I have people who take care of that and I have to focus on my work.”
