Kylian Mbappe could be on the move next year.
The Sunday Times contains a report from Duncan Castles today and it suggests PSG’s Kylian Mbappe is leaving the club next summer and would like to play for Liverpool or Manchester United if he was to move to England.
The French forward is the highest-valued player in the world, with Transfermarkt giving the 21-year-old a market price of €180m.
Mbappe is currently suffering with COVID-19 after getting a positive result from a test.
Last season he scored an incredible 30 goals and recorded 19 assists in 37 games for PSG.
He has also scored 15 times in 35 games for France.
The idea of Mbappe coming to United seems laughable. If they are haggling to do a deal for Jadon Sancho, which is believed to be valued at €120m, then I can’t see the club fighting on all fronts for Mbappe’s signature.
‘Kylian Mbappe has informed Paris Saint-Germain that he intends to leave at the end of this season to further his career elsewhere,’ Castles claims.
‘A vocal admirer of Liverpool’s play under Jurgen Klopp, the 21-year-old France international is understood to have targeted a move to either La Liga or the Premier League.
‘PSG do not want to lose [Mbappe] and have made multiple offers of substantially improved financial terms.
‘Mbappe, however, has made it clear that his play one more season in Paris, allowing technical director Leonardo a final summer window in which to recoup the club’s transfer-fee investment.’
It’s a smart way to set up a year-long worth of stories to keep members of the media busy.
Linking Mbappe to United makes him a ‘United target’ to certain outlets. There could be nothing in it but some outlets will happily describe a player as a target when they might not be…
I mean, Castles has mentioned Liverpool too — how on earth are they going to conduct a deal for Mbappe next summer when they are struggling to do any business this summer?
Castles adds Real Madrid and Barcelona to ‘the race’ for Mbappe.
‘Liverpool’s front three all turn 29 this season and would be permitted to leave if a sufficiently lucrative bid came in for them.
‘According to a close friend, Mbappe’s interest in English football also extends to Manchester United.’
Do you believe Mbappe could be at United next summer? Seems very far-fetched.
