Manchester United may finally have the chance to sell Marcos Rojo this summer.
Rojo made just five starts for United this season and spent half of the campaign back home in his native Argentina with Estudiantes.
The erratic centre-back has long outstayed his welcome at Old Trafford and is one of a number of players that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be looking to move on this summer.
And according to Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb, via Sport Witness, Lazio have made an approach for Rojo, who has just one year left on his United contract.
The report claims Rojo is valued at around €8m by United, who should look to cash in before they lose the 30-year-old on a free next summer.
Rojo reportedly ticks all of Lazio’s boxes for a defensive target as he has the ‘quality, flexibility and above all the international experience’ the Serie A club desire.
It is noted that Rojo is no longer part of Solskjaer’s plans at Old Trafford so a move could be possible if Lazio meet United’s asking price.
Rojo hasn’t enjoyed one successful full season during his six-year spell in Manchester but has made 61 appearances for his country so does have international pedigree.
A move to Lazio seems like it would be beneficial for all parties if a deal can be agreed upon this summer.
However, Stretty News understands Rojo would still prefer to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place under Solskjaer next season.
We will keep you updated on all the developments surrounding Rojo’s future in the coming weeks.
