Manchester United officially announced the signing of midfielder Donny van de Beek on club website ManUtd.com earlier this evening. The 23-year-old joins United on a five-year deal costing a reported €39m plus €5m in add-ons, as per Sky Sports.
van de Beek, will wear goalkeeper Dean Henderson’s number 34 shirt after it emerged that he asked his new club if he can honour his best friend and former team-mate Appie Nouri who suffered life changing injuries back in 2017 during an Ajax match by wearing his old number, as per ManUtd.com.
In light of van de Beek’s official announcement, the talented midfielder took to his personal social media to issue Ajax fans with a classy departure message where he said: “The fans will always have a special place in my heart. I will keep following you!”
After 13 years, I say goodbye to the club that played a huge part in my development. I thank everyone who made this move possible. Time has come for a new chapter, but @afcajax and the fans will always have a special place in my heart. I will keep following you! Donny ❌❌❌ pic.twitter.com/qvJIdrqhiF
