Man United star Victor Lindelof shows hero instinct to halt thief by saving elderly woman’s handbag

Just days after defensive partner Harry Maguire was arrested following an alleged fracas, Sweden star Victor Lindelof has shown his superhero instincts by chasing down a thief who tried to steal a 90-year-old woman’s bag.

Lindelof reportedly charged after a man on a bicycle after seeing him steal a handbag from an elderly woman in his home city of Vasteras.

United’s season is over and the players have a few weeks left to recharge their batteries after a hectic 2019-20 campaign. The centre-back is passing time by fighting crime.

Sportbladet named Lindeof as the hero of the hour after he detained the suspected thief until police arrived.

While United’s defence improved last season from the campaign prior, it’s far from perfect and Lindelof’s place will be up for grabs before Maguire, which is also dependent on what happens with his situation in Greece.

Sky News’ sports correspondent Martha Kelner says Maguire’s charges have been downgraded to misdemeanour offences. The most likely outcome, according to Kelner, is a hefty fine rather than a prison sentence.

A different week for two of our centre-backs but well done to Victor. Proper order!
