Manchester United have reportedly taken their interest in Juventus’ Douglas Costa to the next level after launching an official bid for the 29-year-old winger.
It has been widely reported recently that United may look to secure Costa’s services after ongoing talks for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho fail to progress.
According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport via Independent , Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United have issued the Italian giants with a £27m bid for the out-of-favour wide attacker but the Serie A champions are holding out for another £9m.
Costa has struggled in recent seasons in Turin after a spate of injuries which has meant he has only started 14 domestic matches since the 2018-19 season got underway.
The Juventus man has very much fallen down the pecking order and is believed to be one of the players new boss Andrea Pirlo will allow leave should a suitable bid for his services come in.
Costa who predominantly plays on the right wing would definitely add to a United position which lacks depth, but make no mistakes, should the United hierarchy be serious about bringing the Brazilian in, it’ll be a huge cop-out to avoid spending the required £108m on number-one target Sancho.
