Manchester United have reportedly re-joined the race to sign Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes in the late stages of the ongoing transfer saga which was previously believed to be between Napoli and domestic rivals Arsenal.
Gabriel, 22, has been strongly linked with numerous clubs this summer including Everton, Arsenal, Napoli and United. However, it was reported by TalkSport that the young Brazilian was destined for either Napoli or the Gunners.
While there are circulating reports that the defender is currently deciding on where his future lies, leading journalist Di Marzio has reported that United have re-joined the chase for his signature.
Di Marzio claims that United have made a late offer for the centre-back amid increasing uncertainty over where the Brazilian’s next destination will be.
The report also claims that Gabriel has asked for 48 hours to mull over his options before making a final decision as more developments in the ongoing saga are expected over the weekend.
The news that the Reds have committed to making an offer for the highly-rated defender comes on the day that it has been reported by The Athletic that the club’s owners are reluctant to sign off a £108m deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
