Juventus have reportedly set their asking price for winger Douglas Costa at just £18m amid speculation that the winger could be one of Manchester United’s summer alternatives to number-one target Jadon Sancho.
Costa, 29, has struggled in recent times at Italian giants Juventus after enduring two seasons plagued by injuries having only managed to start 14 domestic games in the last two campaigns.
Surprisingly, Costa is said to have emerged as a potential alternative summer target for the Reds after talks with Borussia Dortmund for number-one target Jadon Sancho appear to have stalled.
According to Italian outlet TuttoSport, Juventus have put a £18m price tag on the experienced Brazilian winger but would not be opposed to seeing him stay beyond this summer’s transfer window.
The report states that club legend and new manager Andrea Pirlo would prefer to offload both Costa and team-mate Sami Khedira but is reluctant to see either depart for less than their current valuation.
Reports that United could snatch Costa for less than £20m come as the Reds have also been strongly linked with Bournemouth’s £40m rated David Brooks, as per Sport Witness.
However, despite the ongoing reports that United could be eyeing up a summer move for Brooks, Stretty News understand the club are not expected to make an approach which could prompt the United hierarchy to make Costa their number-one Sancho alternative.
But according to the Manchester Evening News, United have also now cooled their interest in a possible loan move for the Brazilian.
