Dean Henderson contract talks ongoing amid Sergio Romero departure speculation

Manchester United are reportedly continuing talks with young goalkeeper Dean Henderson as they look to extend his current deal as speculation around back-up keeper Sergio Romero’s possible departure intensifies. 

Henderson, 23, has spent the last two seasons out on loan with Sheffield United where he helped them secure promotion back to the Premier League in 2018-19 and go onto surprisingly challenge for European football this season.

Amid increasing speculation that United’s back-up keeper Romero could depart Old Trafford after being dropped for both the FA Cup and Europa League semi-finals it is believed that United have now turned their attentions to renewing Henderson’s deal.

According to Manchester Evening News, United are currently embroiled in crunch talks to try and ensure Henderson extends his current contract by offering him a bumper new deal.

It is understood that United’s attempts to renew Henderson’s deal are to also ward league rivals Chelsea off poaching the talented young keeper.

Chelsea are reportedly keen on swooping in for the 23-year-old as current manager Frank Lampard looks to offload disappointment Kepa Arrizabalaga, as per Manchester Evening News.
