Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with Werder Bremen over the loan transfer of Tahith Chong.

According to German outlet BILD, Chong is set to join the Bundesliga outfit on a one-season loan deal and is already on his way to Germany to finalise a deal.

Sky Sports add that Bremen, who narrowly missed out on relegation last season, will pay the ‘majority’ of Chong’s wages during the loan spell.

Stretty News exclusively reported in July that the Dutch winger was likely to head out on loan after being frustrated by a lack of first-team opportunities under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Chong signed a new two-year United contract in March, proving the club do still have high hopes for the youngster.

It’s been clear that the 20-year-old needs to spend a season elsewhere playing regular first-team football after making just 13 senior appearances across this protracted campaign.

Chong last featured for the Reds in a surprise cameo at left-back during the dead rubber against LASK at Old Trafford.

But he is yet to make his mark in his favoured position on the flanks and deserves an opportunity to impress Solskjaer with his performances in the Bundesliga.
