MEN Poll: Fans vote for their Manchester United Player of the Year

Manchester United fans who read the Manchester Evening News were asked to pick their player of the year — and the results have been confirmed.

January arrival Bruno Fernandes comes out on top which shows the sort of impact he had on the team after joining.

The former Sporting Lisbon midfielder quickly became a crucial part of the team that secured a third-placed finish in the Premier League. He has yet to suffer a defeat in the league which is a good record to have going into the new season when our objective should be to put up a better challenge for the title rather than going into the final weekend of the season not knowing if we’re guaranteed a place in the top four.

Fernandes also tops the Europa League scoring charts after scoring a penalty in the quarter-final win over FC Copenhagen. Now there’s the semi-final against Sevilla to look forward to on Sunday night.

MEN Sport asked readers to vote for their Manchester United Player of the Year, with Fernandes receiving 3,872 (40%) of the 9,683 votes.

Meanwhile Anthony Martial came second (2,100 votes, 21.7%) which is good given it was his first full season as the club’s first-choice striker. The Frenchman stood up and took more responsibility than ever before. We can only hope that is a sign for the future as he leads the club’s scoring charts on 23 goals.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka rounded off the top three with 1,275 votes (13.2%). Not bad for your first season at the club!
