There was a social media frenzy on Monday afternoon when a number of credible reports detailed promising updates on Manchester United’s pursuit of Jadon Sancho.

It is football’s worst kept secret that United want to sign the Borussia Dortmund starlet this summer and serious progress appears to have been made in the club’s attempts to secure his services.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted the news that talks are at an advanced stage between United and Dortmund over a contract that would last until June 2025.

Romano also noted that Sancho would like to move to Old Trafford and there would be no issues with personal terms.

Reputable BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone provided a further update on Monday evening in conversation with Chris Sutton on 5 live.

Stone reiterated that United are not immune to the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, highlighting the fact that the club continue to lose money on matchday revenue.

But he also said he thinks the deal will still be completed, with both clubs pushing for the transfer to go through.
