Report: Man Utd set £20m price tag for defender who has fallen out of favour with Solskjaer

Manchester United are reportedly willing to offload out-of-favour right-back Diogo Dalot this summer.

Dalot has endured a frustrating season at Old Trafford that has been compounded by injuries with Aaron Wan-Bissaka becoming indispensable in the Portuguese youth international’s position.

The 21-year-old made just one Premier League start this campaign, and was notably overlooked by Solskjaer in an away league game against Crystal Palace after the restart when Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams were both injured.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah was selected ahead of Dalot that evening which would surely have made the youngster consider his future at the club.

And according to FootballInsider, United are prepared to sell Dalot this summer and have set a £20m price tag for the full-back.

The report also notes that United could also be willing to listen to loan offers for the prospect they signed just two seasons ago.

It is claimed the sale of Dalot would help United fund deals for their priority targets such as Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho.

Dalot remains a player of tremendous talent and it would be a shame to see him leave Old Trafford without fulfilling his potential.

While he looked rusty in his only post-lockdown start in the FA Cup against Norwich, we still think Dalot has a higher ceiling than Fosu-Mensah, who has also been plagued by injuries in his short career.

But Solskjaer may prefer to move him on to aid the progression of academy star Ethan Laird who has been touted to challenge Wan-Bissaka for a first-team place next season.
