Manchester United have reportedly lowered their asking price for flop Alexis Sanchez from £18m to £13.4m as the club desperately seek to offload the 31-year-old attacker.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, United have considerably lowered their financial demands in a desperate attempt to convince Inter Milan to make Sanchez’s loan move a permanent one.

Sanchez joined the Nerazzurri on a season long loan last year after an abysmal 18 months at Old Trafford scoring just five goals in 45 appearances in all competitions.

However, the Chilean attacker appears to have finally recaptured the form which prompted United to poach him from domestic rivals back in January 2018, scoring four goals and providing a further 10 assists in his last 29 appearances for Inter Milan.

Sanchez is believed to be available for Antonio Conte’s side’s Europa League round of 16 match against Spanish side Getafe on Wednesday but is expected to return to Manchester afterwards once his loan agreement expires, as per Express.

According to Sky Sports Italia, as cited by Metro, Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta said last week: “It is not easy, he [Sanchez] has a two year contract with Manchester United, a heavy contract.”

“We have to evaluate this type of situation, in addition to any type of negotiation.

“It would be a shame if we could not reach an agreement because we would like Sanchez both today and in the future. He is an excellent guy.”
