Former Manchester United youngster Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has signed a one-year deal with Oldham Athletic after being released.
Borthwick-Jackson looked a fantastic prospect when given his first-team opportunity by Louis Van Gaal back in 2015 but his career has stagnated since.
The left-back soon faded away after a bright start to his United career, and he has struggled to make any meaningful impact during subsequent loan spells at Wolves, Leeds, Scunthorpe and Tranmere.
He joined Oldham in January, helping keep two clean sheets and recording one assist in six appearances.
And the League Two side have decided to keep the 23-year-old permanently by signing him on a one-year contract.
“I’m really pleased to be back at the club and can’t wait to get going again,” Borthwick-Jackson told Oldham’s official website.
“I enjoyed my loan spell last season and I’m pleased I’ve got another opportunity now to build on that and show the fans more of what I can do.
“I’ll give 100% commitment again and I’m focused on getting regular game time as part of a strong defensive unit.”
We wish Cameron the best of luck in his future endeavours after spending a total of 16 years at United through the academy and progressing into the first-team ranks.
