The representatives of Manchester United transfer target Gabriel Magalhaes are reportedly in the UK discussing a possible switch to the Premier League.

Gabriel, 22, has emerged as a central defensive target for United this summer with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to provide more competition for preferred pairing Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

Sky Sports reported on Thursday that the Lille defender fits United’s criteria as he is young, has plenty of potential and is also deemed attainable at around £20m.

It was claimed Serie A giants Napoli are frontrunners for the Brazilian’s signature, with Paris Saint-Germain and Everton also showing serious interest.

But the latest update from Sky Sports is that Napoli’s interest in Gabriel has ‘receded’ and the player’s representatives are in the UK to discuss a transfer with two Premier League clubs.

The sides are unnamed, but we presume they are Everton and United given the fact that these are the two clubs that are credited with an interest in signing him.

It is reported that Gabriel is yet to decide his preferred next transfer destination but a decision could be made in the coming days.

Gabriel could be an astute signing for United, and his arrival would prompt further questions over the future of surplus defenders such as Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones.
