Southgate considers Mason Greenwood for England call-up later this year

Mason Greenwood continued his incredible run of form in Manchester United’s win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

The 18-year-old’s rise to prominence is likely to go up a gear, with England manager Gareth Southgate considering him for an international call-up later this year, according to The Athletic.

Greenwood’s tally this season currently stands at 15 goals from 41 appearance. Ornstein claims, as a result, he has entered Southgate’s plans for the Nations League double-header away to Iceland on September 5 and Denmark three days later.

His form of late warrants a call-up and I wouldn’t be surprised if he pushed on to make Southgate’s squad for Euro 2021.

Dean Henderson is also in line for senior recognition.

The 23-year-old MUFC goalkeeper is on loan at Sheffield United and has been one of the most outstanding keepers in the top flight.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows the pressure will come but thus far, Greenwood looks like a player who can deal with it. Top flight defenders can’t get near him and his powerful shots are breezing past goalkeepers.

If he’s so difficult for defenders to contain now, imagine how good Greenwood will be in three years time?

Too good to ignore!
