It was a day to remember for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Alassane Plea.
The French striker, linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, set his attacking partner Marcus Thuram up for two goals and netted one himself.
A low cross floated in from the left and Plea was in the right place at the right time to punish the Union Berlin defence with a stunning first-time finish from the penalty spot.
The Metro recently cited a report from Sky Germany which stated United have already opened talks with Plea’s entourage about a move when the transfer window opens.
But with Odion Ighalo likely to stay on loan until January, it will be interesting to see if it stops United making a move for this player, with Mason Greenwood’s development being another priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
