Marcus Rashford has made it his personal mission in recent months to help as many vulnerable people in the local Manchester area as possible.

Rashford, 22, has been responsible for the supply of over two million weekly free meals to the community’s most in-need, the majority of which being children.

The scheme was originally set up with a target of £100k, but the United star has since smashed his goal and has managed to raise over £20mil. Rashford has even managed to get supermarket giants on-board, some of which include the likes of Tesco and ASDA.

In addition to the star forward’s community food help, as reported by Standard the young Englishman has also set out plans to reserve special match day seats for frontline NHS staff as a way of showing his gratitude for their efforts during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Rashford has seen his selfless efforts rewarded by individual recognition from The High Sheriff of Greater Manchester.

The striker has posted a certificate on his personal Twitter account displaying the certificate. He said: “Wouldn’t normally share these types of things but this certificate is not just for me it belongs to all of you. Each and every one of you that has contributed the few £s you can, you’ve all made a huge difference.”

”2.8 million children a week are receiving meals they otherwise wouldn’t have during this lockdown because of YOUR help. I couldn’t have done any of this without the help of you all,” he adds.

Rashford continued by saying: ‘To be recognised by my city is a great feeling. From being young I knew that if I ever got in a position that I could help I would and I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved so far. Thank you all, you’re all superstars. We won’t stop until children and their parents no longer have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. I appreciate you all, thank you to the High Sheiff of Greater Manchester.”

Throughout these difficult times Rashford has been a beacon of light for some of the country’s most in-need.
For such a young sports star, Rashford is providing to be a superb role model for not just aspiring children, but also his fellow professionals.

Rashford’s inspiring work and desire to help throughout these unprecedented times is the perfect example of a modern day athlete putting their status to great use.
