Former Manchester United player Johnny Giles tells a hilarious but rather rude story from his time at the club.
Giles signed for United as a 15-year-old after being spotted by respected scout Billy Behan, who had a brief career with the Red Devils in the early 1930’s.
He made his debut in 1959 against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, lining up with Munich saviours Sir Bobby Charlton and Harry Gregg. United lost 5-1 and Giles went on to play for the first time in just nine more matches.
It wasn’t long before he’d ask Sir Matt Busby for a transfer and Giles left for Leeds United.
But he recalls this brilliant moment between Charlton and Nobby Stiles, which you can hear in the tweet below, though make sure to block any young ears in your surroundings.
On a scale of 1-10 on the rudeness chart, it’s up there!
Charlton was struggling in a game and kept losing the ball, so Stiles turned to him and said: “You’ve wasted more days today than Marilyn Monroe, Bobby!”
We don’t know when this story was told or who Giles was speaking to, although he features regularly on Off The Ball.
