Manchester United are set to release two academy graduates as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer begins his summer clear-out
As reported by Manchester Evening News, Demetri Mitchell and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson will leave Old Trafford on a free after failing to impress during a series of loan spells.
Mitchell, 23, sustained a serious knee injury in February 2019 and has struggled to regain fitness in his rehabilitation period. He has not featured in the u23 development side since.
Borthwick-Jackson, meanwhile, enjoyed more success in the first-team at United than Mitchell who made just one appearance for the Reds.
The left-back impressed in a handful of starts under Louis Van Gaal and earned a new long-term contract when Jose Mourinho arrived as manager.

But the youngster has been rapidly falling down the leagues with poor loan spells since at Wolves, Leeds United, Scunthorpe United, and Tranmere Rovers.
The pair were never likely to break into the United first-team as regulars and they must now seek new challenges elsewhere.
Solskjaer needs to be ruthless in offloading several other players surplus to requirements this summer, including those in and around the first-team squad.
Defensive duo Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo should both be transfer listed as the Norwegian looks to clear-out the players that will not be part of his long-term plans.
We wish Demetri and Cameron the best of luck in their future away from United.
