Manchester United are targeting an attacking midfielder this summer to provide a further creative option alongside Bruno Fernandes.
Fernandes has been fantastic since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon in January, scoring three goals and contributing four assists in nine games.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side look far more dangerous in attacking transition with the Portuguese international playing in the number 10.
But another playmaker to increase the Norwegian’s choices in attack can only make United a more dangerous proposition.
Manchester Evening News reported last month that United have expressed an interest in signing Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, who is widely expected to leave his boyhood club this summer.
Their report claims the club are also monitoring the future of James Maddison, but there is an understanding that it will be very difficult to prize him away from Leicester City.

Former Leicester and Liverpool striker Jack Grealish thinks there is a strong possibility United could opt for Grealish this summer, and has tipped him to be a success if he makes the switch.
“There is every chance that Jack Grealish will join Man Utd in the summer,” Heskey told GentingBet, as quoted by Goal.
“I don’t think that Jack will be at Villa come the end of the season.
“I played with him when I was at Villa, he was only a young lad, he used to come and train with us – he was a phenomenal player even then and he has gone from strength to strength. He’s taken everything on his shoulders at a young age.
“He’s a very young captain but has been very positive with it. He’s stayed at Villa a lot longer than a lot of people would have thought he would, so full credit to him. Villa will now get a decent fee for him and he’ll go on and make a stellar career.”
“I think [he] would do well at Man Utd. He’s a commanding midfielder and the kind that they’ve missed recently. They have it now in Fernandes but having another one alongside him who could drive from the midfield – that’s Jack all over.
“But Jack can play in several different positions. He would do very well at Man Utd.”
Grealish would represent a far cheaper than Maddison, who would only be sold for an extortionate price if the sale of Harry Maguire is to go by.
And as noted by Heskey, Grealish can play in a number of different roles in attack. The 24-year-old can play in behind the striker, but also thrives in an inside left role where he can cut inside and cause problems with his star quality.
