Bruno Fernandes wins Midfielder of the Month – in the Premeira Liga

Bruno Fernandes has won the Portuguese Primeira Liga Midfielder of the Month award for January two weeks after sealing a move to Manchester United.

The 25-year-old remained a key player for Sporting Lisbon last month despite being constantly linked with a move to the Premier League.

Hopefully we don’t have to wait long for him to win his first individual award at Man Utd — getting a chance to stake his claim when the winter break ends.

United travel to Stamford Bridge on Monday night looking to make ground on Chelsea in the top four race.

Since we’ve struggled for goals all season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping Fernandes can add a much needed creative spark in midfield, providing Anthony Martial and Odion Ighalo enough service to win games.

We haven’t seen enough quality from Jesse Lingard or Juan Mata this season and it’s about time we moved on from those two players.

Fernandes will be a big bonus in the final third.

Congrats Bruno!
