5 English clubs interested in taking Man Utd youngster on loan for remainder of season

James Garner is in the talks over a loan move away from Manchester United.

The young midfielder was not seen for the 6-0 win over Tranmere Rovers on Sunday, and there are several lower league clubs interested in taking him for the remainder of the season.

According to The Athletic, those clubs include Sunderland, Wigan Athletic, Blackpool, Fleetwood Town and Doncaster Rovers.

The 18-year-old is highly rated at United and we think he would benefit from regular game time at a competitive level. With the midfield department so thin at the moment, it wouldn’t surprise us if United were waiting to see what happens with their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon ace Bruno Fernandes.

Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic gives an update on Fernandes, writing, “United are continuing to negotiate with Sporting Lisbon over the Portugal international, even though they have previously drawn the line at a €50 million guaranteed bid. The Athletic understands that Sporting are looking to alter one add-on clause pertaining to Fernandes winning the Ballon d’Or — rather wanting the cash on more realistic terms.”

Fernandes may be the best player in Portugal currently, but to win the Ballon d’Or would be a massive statement, and one that would require United to be in the Champions League to achieve.

Meanwhile, Ojogo in Portugal are building tonight’s game between Sporting and Maritimo up as Fernandes’ farewell. The same was said about his last two games for the club and the clubs have yet to come to an agreement.

We’ll be watching the game later to see if he features.

Updates to follow.
