Report: Man Utd ready to ramp up Bruno Fernandes pursuit with fresh offer

Manchester United are considering a fresh bid for Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes, according to Jamie Jackson of The Guardian.

Negotiations are set to be ramped up before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Fernandes has been announced in Sporting’s starting eleven to face Maritimo today.

The report claims Man Utd had an offer worth €45m (£38m) plus add-ons for the 25-year-old midfielder rejected earlier this month. There are hints that the clubs are prepared to compromise over the transfer fee but have yet to come to an agreement.

Jackson adds that a second offer is unlikely to go beyond €55m — which gives no suggestion that Sporting will opt to agree as it could come down to add-ons.

United have haggled over this deal for too long this month and Fernandes should already be part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

Such incompetence is the reason behind our bad recruit for years hence why so many people hold executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward responsible.

A lot too comes down to the Glazers penny-pinching.
