Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United ‘played the way football should be played’ after the emphatic 6-0 victory over Tranmere.
The Reds eased into the fifth round through six different goalscorers; Harry Maguire, Diogo Dalot, Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood all netted against the League One outfit.
There had been concerns before kick-off that a horrendous pitch could cause a depleted United side problems at Tranmere Park.
But it was the same for both teams and United dealt with conditions far better as quality shone throughout.
This should provide some much needed confidence for the Reds and take some pressure off the manager ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup final second-leg at the Etihad, where United trail City 3-1.
Man Utd’s opponents in the next round of the FA Cup will be discovered in Monday evening’s draw.
