Roy Keane was unsurprisingly ruthless in his post-match reaction to Manchester United’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.
The United great singled out striker Anthony Martial, suggesting he is not good enough to play for the club after today’s performance.
Despite blazing a golden opportunity in the second-half, Martial didn’t actually do too much wrong.

The Frenchman worked tirelessly and was bereft of service throughout the whole 90 minutes with Liverpool inevitably dominating large stages of the game.
His lack of composure after his good work to miss his second-half opportunity was disappointing, but he certainly does not deserve to be scapegoated for today’s defeat.
Martial is adapting to his role as a central forward at United and has been improving under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
We don’t know whether Keane’s comments are born out of frustration, but we feel Martial is good enough to play for the Reds.
When you look closely at the lack of quality around the pitch, it’s actually welcome to have someone of Martial’s talents up front.
This is what Keane had to say, courtesy of Sky Sports.

Roy Keane on Martial miss: “That sums up his career in a nutshell. You hit that target. That’s why he’s not quite good enough for United. That moment summed him up.” #mufc [Sky]
