Rashford explains why he carried on despite feeling knock against Wolves

There are two ways to look at this.

One prompts an angry reaction and suggests Marcus Rashford was stupid for trying to play on tonight against Wolves after sustaining a knock.

The other is a much warmer response. Kudos to the lad for playing through pain and for putting the team first. Except that won’t matter if we’re without him this weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must take responsibility too. It was him who initially decided to rest Rashford for tonight’s game, with one eye on the Liverpool clash, but still brought the England international on in the second half to turn the game in United’s favour.

However, United did score while Rashford was on the pitch, with Juan Mata finding the net following a through ball from Anthony Martial.

Rashford jumped to Twitter after the match and shared a picture of himself laid out on the Old Trafford turf.

He wrote: “Never want to feel like I’ve let my teammates, the club and most importantly the fans down so did my best to carry on tonight and was gutted to come off.”

It didn’t look good as the Man Utd forward held his back as he approached the tunnel.

Time will tell.
