The former Dutch striker had questioned Solskjaer after United’s abysmal defeat to Arsenal on New Years Day for smiling during his media duties after the final whistle.

Van Persie thought Solskjaer should have shown more anger in the wake of such a shocking performance.

Solskjaer rarely hits back at criticism from pundits in the media, but has clearly been affected by Van Persie’s comments.

United face Wolves on Saturday in the FA Cup third round at Molineux as Solskjaer’s side look to get back to winning ways.
