Luke Shaw hilariously trolls Romelu Lukaku following Inter Milan’s Champions League exit

Luke Shaw took a brilliant opportunity to hilariously troll his former team-mate Romelu Lukaku on Twitter.

The Man Utd left-back took some pleasure in seeing Lukaku, who left Old Trafford for Inter Milan in the summer, drop out of the Champions League and back into the Europa League where he joins the club he left only a few months ago.

This is proof that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

Inter were eliminated from the Champions League last night following a 2-1 defeat to Barcelona. Lukaku got his name on the scoreline to equalise, but a late goal by Ansu Fati sealed the win for the La Liga champions.

Shaw found an old tweet of Lukaku’s that made reference to playing in Europe’s biggest competition, which he quoted before adding a smart “Welcome back” response with a winking emoji.

The United lads will enjoy that one and Shaw probably had it saved with the belief that Inter’s Champions League campaign would end in tears.

However, Shaw has issues of his own at United. The England international risks falling down the pecking order at United following the emergence of Brandon Williams from the academy.

He has a lot to prove if he’s to make the left-back role his own at United.

Imagine meeting Inter in the knockout phase of the Europa League — with Alexis Sanchez expected back from injury in the new year!

United are back in action on Thursday night against AZ Alkmaar. Our aim needs to be either win the Europa League or finish in the Premier League’s top four because Manchester United need to be playing in the Champions League!
