Anthony Martial heaps praise on two Man Utd stars ahead of Tottenham clash

Anthony Martial has praised fellow Manchester United forwards Daniel James and Marcus Rashford ahead of Wednesday’s crucial clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds have failed to beat newly promoted sides in their last two league games in Sheffield United and Aston Villa. In truth, Solskjaer’s preferred attacking trio have not been good enough in either fixture, particularly at Bramall Lane where there was a distinct lack of movement.

Wednesday’s game gives the forwards a chance to get things right at Old Trafford, albeit against much tougher opposition who will be difficult to break down under José Mourinho.

Solskjaer’s forwards have struggled for consistently in form, largely doing most of their good work on the counter-attack. With a lack of creative options in midfield, we expect the counter-attack will be the most likely way of United scoring against Spurs at Old Trafford.

Martial praised summer signing Daniel James on his impact for Solskjaer’s side this season, after his arrival from Swansea.

“He’s a player who is blessed with incredible pace,” Martial told United Review, as quoted by Manchester Evening News.

“He really is unbelievably fast and yet he is also someone who is able to choose the right option. In spite of all that pace, he doesn’t lose control, he keeps his head and then often manages to make the right choice.

“That’s a big plus for a forward player as that way he can make assists for us all. He really is a top player and someone I wasn’t aware of before, so quite honestly, that makes him a great addition.”

When James joined, there was an expectation that he would be used sporadically as the youngster continues to develop his game. But he has looked comfortable in the Premier League and been relied upon as a key part of Solskjaer’s plans. The Welshman has played in each role across the front three this season.

The Frenchman also praised Marcus Rashford.

“For me, Marcus is quite a complete player,” he added.

“He is young but he’s a guy with a lot of experience because he started out so young.

“I think right now he is bringing a whole new dimension to his game. I hope he’ll keep going like that because that will help us a lot to improve and assist the team in general.”
