Video: Solskjaer picks out star Man Utd duo for praise after victory over Brighton

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was thrilled with Manchester United’s 3-1 victory over Brighton at Old Trafford.

The Reds produced a dominant display against Graham Potter’s side to jump up to seventh place in the Premier League table.

Goals from Andreas Pereira and Marcus Rashford, and an own goal from Davy Propper ensured United bounced back from last weekend’s disappointing defeat away to Bournemouth.

But despite scoring three goals and looking comfortable, the Reds were still not clinical and missed several opportunities to extend their advantage further.

Notably, Marcus Rashford’s chance following some excellent build up play from Daniel James and Anthony Martial will go down as one of the misses of the season.

Solskjaer singled out the brilliant Martial and Brandon Williams for praise in his post-match interview. 19-year-old Williams was making his first Premier League start for the Reds.

“We should have scored many more goals,” the United manager told BBC Sport.

“It was an excellent performance from the lads, when you see them going forward it is a joy to watch.

“Anthony Martial did not get a goal but he was outstanding. Brandon Williams was excellent too, he has had some good games already and he seems he wants to be out there and enjoy himself.

“The table does not really matter at the moment: we need to keep improving and keep winning games and see where it takes us.”
