Ed Woodward branded ‘arrogant’ and apparently says ‘do you know who I am?’

Like a character from a sitcom.

Ed Woodward doesn’t come across very well in an excellent read by Laurie Whitwell, Adam Crafton, Matt Slater and Oliver Kay for The Athletic.

Nobody can take his brilliant marketing skills away from him, but Woodward is not the right man to be running the biggest football club in the world. He shouldn’t be making football decisions and United would be much better keeping him in their London office to run the business side of things, with a technical director of some sort trying to steady the ship as far as football matters are concerned.

Woodward has been branded ‘arrogant’ by a club intermediary, speaking exclusively to The Athletic.

“Woodward can be arrogant,” the intermediary in question is quoted.

“If you ever say something that pushes his buttons he will be like, ‘Do you know who I am?’ His job is impossible really isn’t it, but I don’t think he covers himself in glory.”

The Glazer puppet is in the spotlight amid the team’s struggles under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the Red Devils sitting just two points above the Premier League relegation zone.

Some United fans feel as if Woodward has left Solskjaer down by failing to buy more players in the summer. Just three arrived — Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire — but we didn’t replace starting players who left, like Ander Herrera and Romelu Lukaku.

It seems every year now United are falling further behind and are reluctant to make those steps to challenge for the Premier League title again.
