‘Sweden for breakfast, the world for dinner’: Zlatan Ibrahimovic gets a very Zlatan statue in Sweden

Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic isn’t one that needs his ego massaged any further, but the football icon was afforded the honour of having a statue of himself unveiled in his hometown in Sweden on Tuesday afternoon.

Fans attended the event at the Stadion in Malmo to see the man himself.

Unveiled was a bronze effigy, commissioned by the Swedish FA, and it was the first time the public got the see it.

It is the work of veteran Swedish artist Peter Linde.

A great quote surfaced on BBC Sport from Zlatan at the unveiling: “Sweden for breakfast, Europe for lunch and the world for dinner.”

It’s a great honour and one truly deserved. Zlatan is seen as arguably the best footballer to come out of Sweden.

There has been speculation about the 38-year-old striker returning to United in January, as per BBC Sport.

While there’s a real need for goals at United, Zlatan wasn’t the player he was after that knee injury, and we’d be taking some risk banking on him now.

But that could still be one of the better options.
