(Watch) Longstaff strike fires Newcastle into lead against Manchester United

Matty Longstaff has given Newcastle United the lead with an excellent strike against Manchester United at St James Park.

The debutant fired home an unstoppable effort past David De Gea from outside the box, having being teed up by full-back Jetro Willems on a Newcastle counter.

Longstaff’s goal has come in United’s best spell in the game, as they began to look more threatening through substitute Mason Greenwood.

But, in truth, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side cannot feel hard done by if they go on to lose this game.

It’s been another abject performance from the Reds, who have been nullified in attack by an organised defensive effort from Steve Bruce’s side.

Serious questions have to be asked of Solskjaer and his United players if the game ends in defeat, extending the horrendous run without an away victory.
